Biometric Witness is a portable device-and-software system designed to capture, analyze, and document what’s happening around you.

Device:

• The BW unit is conceived as a portable device equipped with four cameras (one on each side) to record a 360° field of view. Each camera can be disabled if a given side of the space is not meant to be captured.

• In addition to the cameras, each side includes a directional microphone, and one side features a fingerprint scanner.

• The device includes a battery and a memory card for autonomous operation. A key function is end-to-end encryption of all data for storage and for transfer to processing.

• For charging and data transfer, the unit has a USB-C port. Besides wired transfer via USB-C, there is real-time wireless transmission over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for syncing with a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

• A 360° panoramic view is stitched from the four camera feeds.

• A built-in third-party ID document reader can, among other things, create a facial biometric template from the photo in the document. It recognizes document formats from 200+ countries.

• Identity determination by face and voice across all active cameras and microphones.

• The detected faces are regularly re-matched against facial biometric templates stored in the software database for registered users. Matching is performed frequently enough to guarantee the authenticity of identified persons throughout the entire recording.

• For unregistered users, a facial biometric template is created and stored only with explicit, recorded consent.

• Speech recognition with linkage to the speaker’s identity. A voice print sample is saved to the user’s profile for future authentication.

• List of active users in a session.

• Transcription of recorded conversations with speaker attribution in text.

• Option to translate the transcript into other languages.

• Built-in local AI (third-party) on the device.

• AI-based conversation summarization.

• AI-powered retrieval across images and text, filterable by user(s) and topics.

• AI-assisted tasks and reminders for users, with email delivery to registered users.

• The software ensures the original recording cannot be altered or appended. This is implemented via a timestamp and a qualified e-signature.

• The software complies with qualified e-signature standards.

• The overall solution must ensure data protection in line with accepted standards.

• Records user consent for video recording and for the collection and processing of biometric data, storing the consent together with the recording file.

• Ability to share the full recording or selected fragments with registered and unregistered users.

• Playback view with the option to filter by active speakers. From the 360° panoramic view, the interface shows the current and previous speaker on screen.

• Web and mobile applications for user registration and system control.

• Online videoconferencing solution: guarantees the authenticity of participant identities. From the 360° panorama it shows the current speaker, alongside the previous speaker, with a stretched panorama displayed at the top of the screen. For online videoconferences, an external speaker should be connected.
